Default Modofanil ~ Alertness Medication

This might be a sideways way to handle sleeplessness, but I am so groggy all the time from not sleeping that I would love to try Modofanil.

According to everything I've read, it is not a stimulant, and doesn't keep you awake, so if your body is capable of sleeping after a while, it will let you get that rest, but it prevents you from being groggy all the time if you haven't had any sleep, and allows you to function at full-awake levels, even if you have been without adequate rest.

It is said to not be habit forming or addictive either.

I think it sounds like a viable option for chronic insomnia and the accompanying lack of alertness.

What do you all think?

Default Provigil

According to the PDR and FDA is uses are for specific conditions and not for other uses.
Its for use with a CAPAP machine and Sleep Apnea, Narcoepesy ( was the condition for which the drug was designed) and shift work sleep disorder.

Where did you find that it was a general use medication. I went to the Prescribing information and unless you hsve one of the underlying conditions it can be detrimental.

Talking

Yes, it is regularly prescribed by civilian practitioners to combat 'daytime fatigue'. Essentially it blocks the neural receptors which respond to hormones released when tired.

Tests have shown that subjects prescribed larger doses of Modofanil can continue to operate for at least 48 hours of intensive cognitive activity with no reduction in perception, judgement, coordination and mental wellbeing.

Default Civillian Practitioners NOT a US term

I don't think she lives in the US. I have heard that term used by some of my colleagues from overseas. in the US that's all we have. Nothing military or endentured by the government.
Here in the US a nurse practitioner can RX the med if she has authorization by an MD. Only MDs but FDA regulation can really RX.

If the doctor is comfortable prescribing this, there is probably no harm in taking advantage of the side effects.
